چکیده
Abstract Background Damage to sensory input is an underlying pathology of chronic ankle instability (CAI). Therefore, it necessary evaluate the function patients with CAI. The present study quantitatively evaluated nerve in CAI and healthy controls using current perception threshold (CPT) measurements, as well influence sex, age, body mass index (BMI) on CPT values relations between frequencies. Methods Fifty-nine subjects 30 participated this study. at anterior talofibular ligament region were recorded injured uninjured sides both control group. Between group differences compared. age BMI was evaluated. Correlations different frequencies also studied. Results There no significant height, weight or groups. did not show a difference by sex. significantly correlate BMI. Compared group, had higher under 250-Hz 5-Hz electrical stimuli; groups ( p < 0.01), effect size large. No observed 2000-Hz stimuli. correlations (p especially 250 Hz 5 Hz. Conclusion revealed increased thresholds 250-Hz- 5-Hz-related fibres ankles This increase may indicate dysfunction A-delta C fibres. Sex, impact values. frequencies, Level evidence III, case-control

functional performance testing in athletes with functional ankle instability
conclusion significant functional performance deficits were observed in the fai group in all tests except single hop test with greater deficits observed in the fai-gw group. hence, these tests can be used to determine the presence of fai. however no deficits were identified for the test involving sagittal plane functional activities suggesting that this test can not be used as a criterion to di...
متن کاملAssessment of chronic ankle instability
Chronic ankle instability is a complex problem which often follows ankle sprain. This workshop will discuss the latest models of chronic ankle instability and give an overview of the latest research in the area. Assessment tools available in the clinic as well as the laboratory setting will be demonstrated in the workshop with the opportunity for participants to practice. Assessments covered wi...
متن کاملEffects of Balance Training on Postural Control in Athletes with Chronic Ankle Instability: A Systematic Review
Objective The Objective Ankle sprains are among the most common injuries in athletes. One of the limitations of people with chronic ankle instability is the lack of postural control. Balance and coordination training are among the most common interventions for people with chronic ankle instability. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of balance training on postural co...

Introduction: Although chronic ankle instability (CAI) is a condition characterized by numerous ankle sprains and the recurring sensation of ankle instability, which result in activity limitations and participation restrictions. Repetition based balance training protocols on type of the balance exercises may improve the deficits often associated with CAI. The objective of this study was to dete...
متن کاملManagement of acute and chronic ankle instability.
Acute lateral ankle ligament injuries are common. If left untreated, they can result in chronic instability. Nonsurgical measures, including functional rehabilitation, are the management methods of choice for acute injuries, with surgical intervention reserved for high-demand athletes. Chronic lateral ankle instability is multifactorial. Failed nonsurgical management after appropriate rehabilit...
